This policy explains what information Answerunboxed collects when you visit, why, and what control you have over it. We have tried to write it in language you can actually follow.
Information you give us
The only information you actively give us is what you type into our contact form: your name, your email address and your message. We use it to reply to you and to action corrections. We do not add contact-form submissions to a mailing list and we do not sell or share them.
Information collected automatically
Like almost every website, our server records standard technical data when a page is requested: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. This is used for security and to understand which articles are read.
Cookies and advertising
We display advertising, and advertising is what pays for the site.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google uses advertising cookies to enable it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page. Opting out does not remove advertising; it makes the advertising you see less targeted.
Third-party vendors set their own cookies under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. Our cookie policy describes the categories in more detail.
Analytics
We use analytics to count visits and understand which articles people read. Analytics cookies record usage patterns, not identities, and we do not attempt to link analytics data to individual readers.
What we never do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not collect financial account details, government identifiers or health records, and you should never send such information through our contact form.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to certain processing. Residents of California have specific rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what is collected and the right to opt out of sale of personal information, which in our case is straightforward because we do not sell it. Readers in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR. To exercise any of these, contact us through the contact form.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting correction. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
